YWAM ARISE LEEDS
ABOUT US
As YWAM Arise Leeds, we are believing God for great things. Leeds is a vibrant city with university students and migrants from many nations to reach. We are a new, small but growing team plant in the early stages of pioneering, here in response to the vision God has given us: a wave of passionate young people who give their lives to sharing Jesus with the unreached peoples God has brought into Europe—to see revival reach the unreached. We exist to be a catalyst for this movement, and by establishing a thriving, worshipping community that reaches out both locally and globally, we believe we will see this vision fulfilled.
We see establishing us as a training and ministry location in the heart of this multicultural urban area he has placed us in – a place full of unreached people groups. We want to be a community passionate in worship and intercession and hungry to see God move in love and power – for His glory – and for those still without access to the gospel – the last, the lost and the least!
We believe this harvest field is ripe but are asking the Lord of the Harvest to send workers! We are seeking more staff to help in all areas of base life as we reach out locally, host outreach teams and run Discipleship Training Schools. Whatever your current skills and abilities we can find a place for you to serve, grow and fellowship with us – whether you come to us from overseas or from Leeds, whether to join staff, train or volunteer – we have space for people to serve in social media, admin, leadership, finance, DIY, gardening, lead worship and prayer, university outreach, cross cultural work and sharing Jesus! Our team does most of these things most weeks!
Our founders came to Leeds as University students over 20 years ago and were already connected with many churches and ministries, helping found two different city wide prayer initiatives in the Leeds (both still going) before God called them into YWAM in 2016.
They spent four years at a YWAM base in California that was seeing rapid growth and there they helped to train and send many young people into the mission field both long and short term before returning to the UK to get to know YWAM in Europe. They have two children in local primary school and love connecting with school parents from all over the world – their kids are already following their lead in this – both having best friends from South Asia!

ABOUT LEEDS
Leeds is the 4th largest city in England. A thriving multicultural university city of 750,000 people with loads to do and plenty of history. There are many great churches, and some thriving young adults groups. BUT there are also many people from unreached people groups desperate in need of people to share Jesus with them – it’s a great location for outreach and frontier missions even if you only speak English!
Here’s a quick video guide to Leeds – it is aimed at Uni students but will help you get a feel Leeds as a city

GLOBAL
ABOUT YWAM
YWAM (Youth With A Mission) is a global missions movement with over 1800 locations and 18,000 staff worldwide. We have a passion to see those who can’t yet learn about Jesus come to know him! Each YWAM location has a focus on Evangelism, Training, or Mercy Ministry – or all three. YWAM is all about championing young people to Know God and Make God Known. We are best known for DTS – our 6 month Discipleship Training Schools which tens of thousands of young people do all over the world each year – which typically have 3 months of ‘Lecture/training Phase’ focused on Knowing God more followed by 8-12 weeks of cross cultural ‘Outreach Phase’ making God Known. Through DTS and our many other University of the Nations courses we also train and prepare people to bring God’s kingdom into EVERY sphere of society.
YWAM is not just a missions organisation it is a global movement with an incredibly rich spiritual history and legacy based on the simple principles of listening to God, doing what He says and not giving up – it is founded on number of core beliefs (you can read about these here) but these are not just doctrinal statements, they are lived out as communities of believers on a mission together who really do know God speaking and directing them and are preserving a culture of faith and simple obedience as they follow God to the ends of the earth.
These values were lived out by the movements for many years before they were ever written down.
It’s the same with all 18 of our foundational values – this is what has made us the ever growing movement of radical visionary, intercultural, interdenominational, biblically based kingdom influencers we still are today! We are helping the end bible poverty and serving the last, the lost and the least, because we take time with God and keep catching HIS heart for these things!
